Happy Birthday Nanny!

Hi Mom,

We are pretty cheap people so we made you a short video and had the kids color some pictures for you. That counts for at least something, right? Remember that my birthday is coming up soon and the lack of nice things we got for you should in no way hinder the grand presentation you have in mind for me. We miss you and are excited to have you guys come and visit next month. The kids ask about it a few times a day. I wish you would just come so they would stop talking about it.

Do you feel way older today or what? You are probably the oldest person I know who can run a 10k. You should really talk with the Guiness Book of World Records or at least the newspaper or something. You could inspire other old people to watch less Wheel of Fortune and go and do something productive like browse garage sales for that special something that will help them finally make it big on the Antique Road Show. That would be pretty sweet.

Anyway, Here is a quick video Bekah took of the kids just for you. They are funny little things.

The kids colored these for you.

Olivia doesn't quite get the drawing thing yet. She did try, but the crayon box was just too interesting to look at and really got in the way of coloring.

Jack did a pretty good job. You will have to ask him what it is. I don't really understand abstract/modern art. It's a little above my cultural level at this point in my life.

Kailtynn seems to draw things I can figure out. She even labeled herself and you so there would be no confusion. What a smart Kindergarten student.

We love you a lot and miss you a little. Happy Birthday.

Ryan, Rebekah, Kaitlynn, Jack, Olivia, and....that's all for now.

Preschool Field Trip

Our little preschool group went to a garden today for a field trip.  I thought I would post a bunch of pictures from today for the other mothers to look at.  I won't put down to many details or names since our blog is public.  It was a lot of fun and at the end the children were even able to plant their own basil plant.  Thanks Emily for finding such a great activity for the kids!

I love this boy!

Don't pick the plants!  Where is his mother?!

Tasting spinach.

He didn't trust the cantaloupe.

He wasn't interested in the plants.

It's a carrot.

A little sunshine to help plants grow!

Feeding the fish.

Trying to get our waxy leaves to stay wet.

Planting basil.

Did I mention that I love this kid!

I don't think even one of them is look at the camera.

Riverfest

I don't have many pictures as I wished I did.  I forgot the camera card for the first day of festivities.  Sigh.  Friday night we went to the blow up carnival.  It was a lot of fun, besides the fact that it was freezing!  They had a bunch of blow up slides and bounce houses for free.  I love free!  For dinner that night we ate corn dogs and french fries. Yum!  The next morning was the parade.  The parade was the only thing I did document.  It was kind of a sad and short parade, but the kids still ended up with a TON of candy.  So they were happy.

See how happy this little girl is!

The Red X float.  Made us laugh a little bit. (for those of you unfamiliar with Red X it is a grocery store in town that mostly sells liquor)

Look my husband is being social! He looks a little short in between Ryan and James.

Don't you just love Jacks jacket?  I found that little beauty at the thrift store for a buck!  He thinks it is the coolest.

This is our beloved story time liberian Ms. Kathryn.  Jack was so happy to see her.  Actually it threw him off to see her in the parade.  I don't think he ever considered the fact that she doesn't live at the library!

Here he is turning back to tell me who he just saw.

Look mom there she is!

For a kid who never sits still she stayed in her seat almost the whole time.

This is just a weird picture I think she is in the air.  Jumping to get some candy I guess.
